As a small but mighty team, efficiency and effectiveness are not only practiced in how we manage our travel and logistics programs but also in the way we manage our work day. We always make time for our clients and vendors, however; finding a shared open space in everyone’s schedule can pose a challenge.
Lucky for us, we have found that the best time to keep in touch is over lunch! Even more fortunate, Calgary, Alberta is peppered with great local restaurants to meet up for a conversation or to celebrate a milestone. It’s never an easy decision to choose between all the awesome, always impressive, and delicious places to eat, but here are Knight Aviation’s favorite lunch spots in downtown Calgary.
The Palomino Smokehouse
This iconic spot in Calgary is one of my personal favorite places for hosting out-of-town business guests for a casual, classic Calgary lunch. This downtown location has, what I like to call, the ‘guilty-pleasure’ menu highlighting slow-smoked BBQ at its best. The vibe in the Palomino is rustic, and clean and gives that classic BBQ pit feel. Personally, I can’t leave without ordering their dry-rubbed ribs, whiskey apples, and garlic fries. Ok, so the garlic fries do take that business lunch to a whole new comfort level, but after all, we recommend the Palomino Smokehouse for the casual business lunch in downtown Calgary. Once those heavier conversations have been done and you’re ready for a break, the Palomino Smokehouse is the perfect place to loosen your tie for a moment.
Caesar’s Steakhouse
Of course, Calgary has no shortage of top-shelf places to get a great steak, and Knight’s President, Darren Neid, a born-and-raised Calgarian (a rare breed), has eaten them all. Although his go-to is The Keg (as I’m sure many of you will agree) he notes Caesar’s Steakhouse + Cocktail Bar as the perfect choice for any special occasion. This Calgary institution is nothing short of your classic steakhouse, including that familiar dark wood decor and a menu to match. Their presentation is delightfully expected and unmatched with must-have add-ons like their (to die for) cheese toast. For that special business celebration, Caesar’s Steakhouse is another top choice for spending time with your clients, employees, or vendors.
Murrietta’s West Coast Bar & Grill
Connected to downtown Calgary’s Plus 15 skyway network, Stephen’s Avenue is a convenient location for getting in some facetime with your business network during lunchtime. There are plenty of great choices on this historic avenue, but Murrietta’s West Coast Bar & Grill’s atmosphere and location make it a top choice for an impressive lunch, dinner, or quiet cocktail hour in Calgary. This building is an impressive stop any time of year, but the beautiful second-level patio makes it a Knight favorite for a late afternoon meeting. Overlooking the bustle of Stephen’s Ave, the ledge-style seating is the perfect spot to have a quiet, private conversation over a crisp glass of wine and a nice light appetizer. For lunch or dinner, the beautiful interior shows some historical architecture, showcasing the classic vibrancy of downtown Calgary.
We are so lucky to live and work in a city with so many choices for hosting our valued clients and vendors. We look forward to sharing more meals and having the opportunity to discuss new opportunities with existing and future clients.
